Q & A’s on Essential Fats by Dr. Eric Serrano

From what I understand taking :: Omega’s :: with a cheat meal will prevent fat storage; when should I take them and how much?
![]()
Yes you are right, omegas actually helps to prevent fat storage and burn stored body fat anytime, but is especially helpful during cheat meals. Take them during the cheat meal, but you may want to take a few more than usual. Omegas have a two pronged system for blocking body fat storage. First is to prevent a large insulin spike; second to fill fat cells with optimal material instead of items that will cause fat cell growth. Anyone concerned with losing body fat or staying lean must keep in mind that it is vital to maintain a beneficial hormonal environment. Insulin and other fat-storing hormones shoot up when cheat meals are consumed. Limiting the amount of insulin released by the body is a crucial tool to avoid body fat accumulation. Omegas can help to reduce the amount of insulin again by lower the glycemic response of the meal. The essential fats contained in the Omegas will moderate blood sugar levels which are a key factor that the body uses to determine how much insulin to release. The unique ingredients found in Omegas stuff fat cells with welcomed material. These essential fats are the preferred cellular fuel, as a result fat cells will shut off admittance to elements in the blood stream that will cause body fat to increase. I use the example of the fat cells being rooms in hotel, and after having access the ingredients in the Omegas, the vacancy sign is shut off to other substances responsible for body fat accumulation.

Dr. Serrano, can you please tell me if the omegas have any influence over cravings?
![]()
:: Cravings :: are rapidly reduced and here is why without getting too scientific: Essential fats are needed to produce many hormones, but are also responsible for producing certain neuro chemicals in the brain such as serotonin. Serotonin helps to regulate appetite and feelings of satisfaction from food. This substance is rapidly reduced while dieting and especially during low fat diets. Omegas provides the raw material to needed to produce optimal levels of Serotonin and other elements needed to lower cravings.
My personal experience indicates that the ingredients within Omegas will help to reduce what I call diet induced depression which again is linked to low fat consumption. This is a haze of lethargy people experience after dieting the wrong way for a period of time. My observation leads me to believe that this state of depression leads to massive binging and diet abandonment. The binging stems from cravings for cetain foods but also the strong desire for certain nutrients that are lacking in a particular diet. It has to be avoided to promote long term success with any nutrition program.

How do omegas taste? I used to take fish oil caps and even without the cap opening the taste was terrible.
![]()
The omegas do not have a taste because the ingredients are NOT spoiled. You will find that most of the fish oil or flax oil products on the market are spoiled. They are left in high temps in someone’s warehouse and they are doomed for rancid delivery to the consumer. Furthermore fish oil products in particular are made with a few different standards. Most companies go after unfiltered fish oil which means that the refinement process is pretty crude. Fish are simply pressed for oils without any “cleansing” As a result the fish oil contains all of the dangerous toxins encountered by fish such as PCBs and other pollutants found in waters across the world. Check out :: FishMax Ultra :: which each enteric-coated capsule of FishMax Ultra’s fish oil contains 300 mg of EPA and 200 mg of DHA derived from mackerel, sardine and anchovy, with Lipase and peppermint oil. OR, a delicious lemon custard liquid :: Pro+ Emulsified EFA’s by Protege Laboratories :: which every 2 teaspoon serving is packed with 1100mg of EPA and 720mg DHA (a total of 1820mg) and is manufactured using a proprietary emulsification technology that significantly reduces the size of fish oil molecules, resulting in enhanced absorption!

Dr. Serrano, should I take omega 3′s with a meal or on an empty stomach? Can you please tell me when the best time to take them?
![]()
Take the omegas with food meals or a shake. Having an omega with a shake helps to lower the glycemic index response of the meal. I have noticed that there is an increasing trend to increase the amount of sweeteners in protein drinks. I suggest spreading the dosage throughout the day; for example three with meal 1 and three with meal three.

I don’t think I have arthritis, but sometimes exercise causes my joints to be stiff, and it’s quite painful. Can omegas help with my joint pain?
![]()
My personal experience and research would support this, omegas can have a positive affect on joint pain and related symptoms. A scientific explanation goes beyond the scope of this conversation and includes many factors that are unique to individuals. Give it a try and let me know what happens.

Can you please tell me why a fish oil product such as the Omega 3′s improve energy levels and how they do this?
![]()
I think this depends on the individual, but there are a few common reasons. The pure source of omega 3 floods cells with welcome raw materials needed to support the cellular activity that keeps us alive and functioning every day. You are simply providing the body with the best fuel available.
The unique combination of ingredients has a profound affect on the hormonal profile. Hormones determine everything that goes on in the body and the omegas helps to optimize the hormonal environment. Again you are providing systems with the high quality raw materials needed to produce a positive hormonal cascade. My grandmother is 76 and she loves this stuff, she had one of the first bottles produced and noticed a significant increase in daily energy. Simple equation- quality fuel leads to great energy and improved body composition.
